Biochar On Site
What if you could create biochar directly where organic waste is generated, transforming forestry residues, agricultural byproducts, and invasive species into a local climate solution? So that communities can reduce wildfire risks, improve soil health, and sequester carbon without the need for costly transportation or centralized facilities. For example, our Biochar On Site program teaches simple, scalable techniques like flame cap kilns, conservation burns, and air curtain burners to produce biochar that stays on site in the local environment, enhancing resilience and sustainability. That’s not all—our program empowers land managers with hands-on education, tools, and partnerships to turn waste into wealth, fostering greener jobs and stronger communities.
This program is intended to support forestry professionals, ecologists, fire service professionals, land managers, property owners, and similar. It includes monthly webinars and this online forum to assist the conversion of stranded biomass from fuels reduction and thinning to biochar which can be used in forest management in applications like revegetation and stream restoration.
We are all learning from each other as we develop best practices together. Join the conversation!
Join our monthly video meetings the first Wednesday of each month at noon Pacific. The link for the meeting is published on the Biochar On Site forum. https://biochar.groups.io/g/Biocharinthewoods
